Babar Azam disappointed again, disappointing performance of Pakistan batsmen continues in BBL

Pakistani veteran batsman Babar Azam made his Big Bash League debut for Sydney Sixers in the current BBL season 2025-26. In four matches, the veteran batsman has 71 runs, the majority of which came in his third innings against Sydney Thunder.

Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars faced each other in the 11th match of the current Big Bash League. The Sixers had already played three matches in the tournament, while the Stars had played only two games in the tournament.

The Sixers had managed to win only one game out of the three they played, while Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, have maintained their undefeated streak in the Big Bash. For Sydney Sixers, batting has been their weakest flaw.

Babar Azam got out on single digit score for the third time in BBL

Pakistan’s legendary player Babar Azam finally got NOC from PCB to play in the Big Bash League. Babar Azam would be looking to make a comeback in the shortest format of the game and BBL is an opportunity for him to relive his best performances.

There were a lot of expectations about the player with the highest T20I run scorer coming into the BBL; However, Babar Azam is struggling with form overall. Tom Curran bowled his second over of the match, as he consistently beat the outside edge of the Pakistani batsman.

The ball swung rapidly and its outer edge was constantly putting the English pacer in danger. Finally, the fifth ball of the over went to Glenn Maxwell at first slip and Azam was out after scoring just 2 runs in his fourth innings.

Babar started the tournament with two consecutive single-digit scores and then managed to score a half-century in the third game of the BBL. He has been able to score only 71 runs with a strike rate below 110.

Sean Abbott returns to BBL after recovery

Sydney Sixers’ legendary fast bowler Sean Abbott played for the team throughout his BBL career and is the highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament. The fast bowler was ruled out of the early matches due to an injury sustained during his stay with New South Wales.

Abbott also missed the opportunity to feature for the Australian team in the Ashes; However, he made a comeback in the Australian domestic T20 tournament in his fifth game with the Sixers.

Abbott not only made a comeback but took a wicket in the very first over of the innings and dismissed the Melbourne Stars opener. Despite the Stars’ defeat, he took a decent score of 1-30 from his three-and-a-half overs.

Sam Harper’s unbeaten century helps Melbourne Stars extend their undefeated streak

Chasing the modest score of 145, Melbourne Stars had all the time in the world. Despite the early dismissal of opener Joe Clarke, his fellow opener Sam Harper combined with Campbell Kellaway and Jonathan Merlo to chase down the target with 7 wickets remaining.

Harper scored a century in the innings as he scored 110* off just 60 balls with the help of 12 fours and 6 sixes. Harper struck at 183.33 and also remained unbeaten to take them cautiously towards the target.
