Punjab Kings have provided an important update regarding the availability of Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai.
Umarzai did not play any match for PBKS in IPL 2026 and had gone home due to personal reasons. The date of his return to the team has been confirmed in a report by Cricbuzz.
Azmatullah Omarzai returns home after his mother’s death
It is learned that this all-rounder had returned home after the demise of his mother. On 28 April, PBKS players paid tribute to him by wearing black armbands during their game against Rajasthan Royals.
During the toss of that match, Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer had expressed his condolences. “On behalf of the entire team, I would just like to express our heartfelt condolences to Azmat and his family. We are with them in happiness and sorrow,” he had said.
Cricbuzz has now confirmed that Umarzai will rejoin the team on May 7. This means he will not be available for PBKS’s matches against GT on May 3 and SRH on May 6 respectively.
