Ayush Mhatre ready to lead India in U-19 Asia Cup 2025

Ayush Mhatre made his T20 debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025. He impressed the franchise enough to retain him ahead of the 2026 auction. This young batsman is also ready to captain India in the Under-19 Asia Cup in December and the Under-19 World Cup in January 2026.

In January 2025, Mhatre became the youngest player to score a List A century when he scored 181 against Nagaland at the age of only 17 years and 168 days. He now has two centuries each in first-class and List A cricket.

Last season, for CSK, he scored 240 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of around 189, which also included a half-century. His ability to provide explosive starts convinced the franchise to retain him, with the hope that he would develop into a key member of their long-term core.

Earlier, Vidarbha had posted a competitive score of 192 for 9 thanks to half-centuries from Atharva Taide and Aman Mokhade, who added 115 runs for the first wicket. However, tight spells from Shivam Dubey and Sairaj Patil, who took three wickets each, ensured that Mumbai remained within reach of the target.
