Axar Patel finally did wonders for India as he broke the defense of Australian batsman Matthew Renshaw and broke the partnership between Matt Short and Renshaw for the third wicket.
India had lost the first ODI and were desperate to bounce back in the second game to keep their hopes in the series alive. If they lose the current match, the final ODI in Sydney will be wasted. On this occasion, while the Indian batsmen stood their ground effectively, the bowlers also held their own against the explosive Australian top order.
Axar Patel gave important success to India by uprooting the stumps of Matt Renshaw.
Perth ODI debutant Matt Renshaw arrived in Adelaide with hopes of scoring some valuable runs that could lead his team to victory and earn him a permanent place in the playing eleven. Renshaw was part of a half-century partnership with Matt Short.
Renshaw looked good in this outing, scoring 30 runs a ball; However, only until Akshar Patel was included in the attack. Patel reduced his pace and bowled a looped delivery on the off-stump line; Renshaw skipped the ball to swing it over leg, but the ball slipped past his outside edge and shattered middle and leg stump.
