As long as Angkris Raghuvanshi and captain Ajinkya Rahane were at the crease, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were in a strong position against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens.
Soon after his departure, the Purple Brigade not only started to lose their hard-earned momentum but also dropped a few wickets. Rinku Singh’s wicket was a big blow for Knight Riders. In the ongoing IPL 2026 season, the middle-order batsman, who has played many match-winning innings for the team in the past, was clean bowled against LSG fast bowler Avesh Khan.

Bell remained on the line of stumps and took off the bails. There was hardly any footwork from Singh, just a lazy swing of the bat. Rinku Singh was out after scoring just 4 runs on 7 balls. Avesh Khan gave a fond farewell to the batsman. KKR lost its fourth batsman.

After Rinku Singh’s early dismissal, the responsibility of handling the run rate was on two foreign batsmen – Cameron Green and Rovman Powell. In the previous matches, Australian all-rounder, Cameron Green, had proved to be a flop only in the batting role, and for Caribbean batsman, Rovman Powell, it was his batting innings in the current IPL season.
Both the batsmen are capable of hitting big shots and taking the run rate to its peak. After Green and Powell, the line-up included Anukul Roy, Ramandeep Singh and Sunil Narine, who are also capable of playing big shots.
The first blow to Kolkata Knight Riders came in the form of the wicket of Finn Allen. LSG’s fast bowler helped the team get rid of the dangerous batsman early in the innings. Digvesh Rathi caught the ball near the boundary line. But the catch looked a bit controversial because the fielder’s foot was very close to the boundary rope.
The highlight of KKR’s innings was the partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The pair of experienced and emerging batsmen took the team closer to 100 runs from 15 runs for 1 wicket. Rahane lost his wicket after scoring 41 runs in 24 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. When the captain was out, KKR’s score was 99 runs in 10.2 overs. Raghuvanshi lost his guard at 45. The young knight played his innings on 33 balls. His innings was decorated with five fours and two sixes.
