Australia defeated Bangladesh by 10 wickets on Thursday (October 16) to book their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

Captain Alyssa Healy once again led from the front and scored her second consecutive century of the tournament. Just four days after his brilliant 142 against India, Healy smashed an unbeaten 113 off just 77 balls at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, helping Australia chase down the target of 199 in just 24.5 overs.

Healy’s brilliant innings included 20 fours. Along with Healy, the other opening batsman Phoebe Litchfield also impressed with the bat. She scored her first half-century in the competition and remained unbeaten on 84 as Australia chased down the target with ease. Litchfield hit 12 fours and one six in his innings of 72 balls.

With their latest win, Australia has reclaimed the top spot in the points table. They now have four wins from five matches, while the second match was washed out due to rain.

Australia restricted Bangladesh to a modest score:

Earlier in the match, Australia had restricted Bangladesh to 198/9 in the stipulated 50 overs. Leg spinner Alan King was almost unstoppable as she bowled four maiden overs and conceded only 18 runs in her 10 overs while also taking two wickets. King was named player of the match for his excellent bowling performance.

Bangladesh had a good start and at one point their score was 73/1, but their innings was derailed by the dismissal of opener Rubia Haider. From that stage, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. While wickets were falling continuously from one end, Sobhana Mosteri worked strongly from the other end and took her team to a respectable score by scoring unbeaten 66 runs.

Bangladesh has lost four consecutive matches in the current World Cup. With a single win from five matches, they are sixth in the points table.
