India’s all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Wednesday, October 29 that he has been ruled out of the first three T20 Internationals of the ongoing series against Australia due to injury complications.

AUS v IND: Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of opening T20I

Nitish, who was recovering from a left quadriceps injury, suffered a setback when he started having neck cramps. This unexpected complication has hindered his recovery and mobility, forcing the BCCI medical team to closely monitor his progress and rule him out of the first three matches of the five-match T20I series.

The quadriceps injury originally occurred during India lost narrowly by two wickets in the second ODI At Adelaide Oval. Nitish could not play the third ODI in Sydney as he continued his rehabilitation. Neck cramps came as an additional hurdle affecting the timing of his comeback. The decision to opt out of the first three T20Is adds to the challenges for India’s bowling all-rounder options as the team adjusts its playing XI for these matches.

BCCI’s statement on Nitish Reddy’s injury

BCCI issued an official statement through its X (formerly Twitter) handle confirming that Nitish Reddy will miss the first three T20 Internationals, with his medical staff actively monitoring his condition. He reiterated his focus on the player’s health and overall fitness, prioritizing his long-term recovery and preparation for future matches.

“Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the first three T20Is. The all-rounder, who was recovering from his left quadriceps injury suffered during the second ODI in Adelaide, complained of neck spasm, which has affected his recovery and mobility. The BCCI medical team is monitoring his progress.” BCCI tweeted.
