Astrologer Sumit Bajaj has predicted that teenage batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi will break former Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s world record for the highest individual score in ODI cricket. Bajaj said Suryavanshi could eventually surpass Rohit’s record innings of 264 runs, which was set more than a decade ago.
Suryavanshi will make his senior international debut for Team India in the upcoming two-match T20 series against Ireland. The matches will be played at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast on 26 June and 28 June. He was also included in the squad for the upcoming England tour and Asian Games later this year.

Sumit Bajaj shared a bold prediction about Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s future on social media. He believes the young batsman has the talent and potential to rewrite the record books and surpass Rohit Sharma’s highest individual ODI score of 264.

Bajaj had earlier attracted attention by predicting that Virat Kohli would score his 50th ODI century. He also recently predicted that Rohit Sharma will retire from ODI cricket before the 2027 World Cup. Rohit has already stayed away from Test and T20 cricket.
Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking 264 runs remains the highest individual score in ODI cricket.
Rohit Sharma scored a record 264 runs against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 13 November 2014. This innings is the highest individual score in ODI cricket. India scored 404/5 in 50 overs and won the match by 153 runs.
Rohit faced 173 balls and scored runs at a strike rate of 152.60. He hit 33 fours, a world record, and nine sixes in an ODI innings. Sharma scored his 186 runs through boundaries.
He built his innings steadily before accelerating. Rohit completed his century in 100 balls, scored 200 runs in 151 balls and crossed the 250 mark in 166 balls. He scored his last 164 runs in just 73 balls.
Sri Lanka were all out for 251, leaving Rohit with 13 runs more than the entire opposition. This innings made him the first batsman to score two ODI double centuries. He added his third double century in 2017 and remains the only player to score more than 250 runs in an ODI innings.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar explained why Vaibhav Suryavanshi was included in the Indian team. He said that the performance and fearless batting of this young player made it impossible to ignore him and the selectors were left with no option but to select him in the senior team.
“I think he’s really picked himself. With his performance, he’s almost forced us to pick him with how well he’s played. For a young kid… I don’t even need to talk about how well he’s playing.”
Vaibhav Suryavanshi earned his first India call-up after a stellar IPL 2026 season with Rajasthan Royals. He became the leading run-scorer in the tournament, scoring 776 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 237.31, and won the Orange Cap.
