Given the high roof and their talent, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Selection Committee and the team management have provided great support to Ayub.

However, young batsmen have failed to repay the confidence of the selectors and team management, and they are not consistent in any format of the game.

In the recently concluded Tri-series in the three-series associated with Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE, Saim Ayub fought to a big knock, in which the batsman broke only one half-century against the United Arab Emirates.

The Pakistan coaching staff, led by Mike Hessen, would have expected the SIM Ayub to get the form in the Asia Cup 2025 and perform well, but the batsman has made a disastrous start.

In the opening match against Oman at Dubai International Stadium on Friday, 12 September in Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025, Sam Ayub came out in the first over.

Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. Sam Ayub got a strike on the second ball, and he came out at the same delivery that was bowled by Shah Faisal.

Pesar Shah Faisal made Sam Ayub a complete and direct delivery, and the batsman reduced and raised slogans across the line.

However, he missed it completely and hit the back pad. The on-field umpire raised his finger almost immediately as he saw that there was no chance that the ball would miss the stumps.

However, Ayub noticed that as an opportunity to embarrass himself and his team, and after a small chat with Sahibzada Farhan, he decided to burn a review.

Ultrarades showed that it did not include any bat, and ball-tracking showed that the ball would have hit the lower part of the middle stump.

The young opener went back to the hut after a duck and saw in a disappointing mood after his failure in Pakistan’s Asia Cup opener.
