Asia Cup 2025 organized by ACC, final decision postponed for upcoming meeting

Following the immense drama on the conduct of the annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council in Dhaka, where BCCI and many other cricket boards avoided participation. However, after some understanding with ACC, all agreed to be part of the meeting.

BCCI officials also attended the meeting, citing security concerns about Dhaka’s visit under the current political scenario, as they were among the teams who joined it online.

One of the major concerns of discussion at this annual general meeting was the upcoming Asia Cup, and BCCI’s participation was mandatory for discussion as they are the official hosts of the competition.

However, it has been confirmed that the Asia Cup will be played in 2025 September, and a total of 8 teams will participate in the multi-team Continental Championship. UAE is also the most likely neutral site to host Pakistan’s matches in the tournament.

ACC to officially confirm Asia Cup 2025 in next meeting

The Asian Cricket Council is currently under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board; Therefore, recently, no proposal or approaches of India have been agreed or noticed by the ACC.

Although the annual general meeting marked India’s presence through online platforms, the Asia Cup was not enough for them to take any formal decision on 2025. He has noded the Continental Championship, but it will be confirmed only after the second meeting, which is determined by the ACC within the next two weeks.

The meeting will mark the possible presence of BCCI officials in the individual, and therefore, the Asia Cup 2025 will be officially confirmed under the supervision of ACC, as reported by Abhishek Tripathi of Deenic Aware.

India to resume white ball action with Asia Cup

White-ball cricket has been resumed by India, as they last played with a white ball in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in February. All Indian players are busy with franchise cricket, followed by a red-ball tour in England.

India was scheduled to play a white ball series against Bangladesh in this August window, that is, before the start of the Asia Cup 2025. However, the bilateral chain has been postponed for more than a year, citing the current geopolitical situation and relations between the two countries.

Therefore, Indian white-ball players are going to return to the field only from the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.

ECB announces India vs England White-Ball series in 2026

The England Cricket Board has revealed the calendar for its upcoming summer in 2026, which looks very busy with back-to-back cricket action. However, it seems interesting that India will travel to England during the same time of the year as this year and a star in a long white ball chain.

India and England will play 5 T20I matches and 3 ODI matches at 8 different places during the first three weeks of July 2026.
