The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to attend the annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which is scheduled to be held in Dhaka on 24 and 25 July. In particular, the BCCI first considered boycotting the AGM due to disagreement on site selection.
The Asia Cup 2025 is to be played in the T20 format before the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the fate of the tournament is in doubt due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions, especially after the tragic initiative attack, which claimed the lives of 26 citizens. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor.

However, the BCCI has confirmed that it will almost participate in the meeting, in which Rajiv Shukla will represent the board. While Sri Lanka’s participation is not clear, Afghanistan and Oman, who were previously suspected, are now expected to be present. Nepal will also attend the online meeting.
The fate of the Asia Cup 2025 will be set at the ACC annual general meeting. In particular, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is hosting a high-level ACC meeting for the first time.
Set to be a major agenda item in Asia Cup 2025 ACC meeting
The upcoming ACC meeting is scheduled to address the Asia Cup 2025. In particular, BCCI has hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2025. However, due to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, matches are expected to be played in UAE this September, which are not ready to play in each other’s countries.
It is suspected whether India will agree to face Pakistan. After the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, public calls have intensified all cricketing relations with Pakistan.
In particular, the India-Pakistan match was canceled in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. A backlash on social media gave birth to several Indian legends, including Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina, who were withdrawing just before stability.
The India-Pakistan Clash remains a sensitive issue in the Asia Cup. Even if they are placed in separate groups, the structure of the tournament can still lead to a meeting in the Super Four Stage or in the final.
We are only assisting logically – BCB President Aminul Islam
According to Espncricinfo, BCB President Aminul Islam said that Bangladesh Cricket Board is only assisting with logical arrangements for the upcoming ACC annual general meeting and not involved in any decision regarding the participation of the member boards.
Aminul said on Tuesday, “We agreed to organize this year’s AGM with ACC.” “This is an ACC program. We are providing them with logistic support. We are all in touch with ACC, who is informing us who is coming and who is not, as we have to arrange the airport pick-up, hotel booking and other support.”
