ACC urged BCCI to clarify the stand on Asia Cup 2025

With less than two months before the Asian tournament, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) headed by PCB President Mohsin Naqvi urged the BCCI to clarify its stand. The ACC expressed concern that the ongoing silence was disrupting commercial and marketing schemes.

“We have been informed that in the absence of this information, their ability to effectively plan, allocate resources and execute their campaigns is quite constrained. In addition, to highlight the challenges faced by them, the media rights partner has highlighted the obligations under the agreement that begins 60 and 90 days before the start of 2025 tournaments.

Asia Cup 2025 is to be played from 5 September to 21 September

The Asian tournament is to be allegedly played from 5 to 21 September. With limited alternative windows this year, any cancellation can prove to be harmful, especially in the Asian Cricket Council, as the tournament is a main source of revenue.

According to the Times of India, the schedule of the 17-day tournament is almost finalized. India has been slated to face Pakistan in a highly anticipated struggle on 7 September with a possible second meeting on 14 September. The final is expected to be held on 21 September.

This year’s Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format, which will serve as an important initial program for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

However, if the Government of India does not approve participation, the BCCI may detect the possibility of organizing a three-series in the same window. India’s Tour of Bangladesh, including ODI and T20 IS, has already been postponed.
