Coming off an impressive Indian Premier League (IPL) season with Gujarat Titans, the rising fast bowler received his first cap for the India national cricket team in the T20I format.

Ashok Sharma makes long-awaited India T20I debut
Before the toss, when players from both the teams were on the field for the regulatory warm-up, Ashok Sharma was on the field along with other regular playing eleven players.
By then, as the 24-year-old fast bowler was practicing a few minutes before the toss, it became clear that he would be a newcomer to the Indian playing combination for the shortest format of the game.
After waiting for a long time as a net bowler for several franchises before making his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans under Shubman Gill, the IPL 2026 season proved to be his breakthrough season.
