Ashes Test officially over with pink ball! England and Australia made a big agreement

England have struggled a lot with the pink ball in the Ashes Test, especially against Australia. Both are part of one of the biggest red ball rivalries called the Ashes, and as per the latest agreement, pink ball Tests will no longer be a part of the Ashes schedule.

Australia have apparently invented and mastered the Ashes Test with the pink ball, and hence, they love to play it during any series held for the Australian summer. Following a defeat against West Indies in the pink-ball Test, following an agreement between CA and the ECB, they are now on the verge of dismantling one of the greatest legacies of modern Test cricket.

Pink-ball Ashes Test officially canceled after major agreement between Australia and England

England and Australia have never had a very good record when facing each other in Ashes Tests with the pink ball. This is because Australia has single-handedly dominated any team in this particular division of Test cricket.

Be it England or Australia, the Three Lions have never managed to win a single game in a pink-ball Ashes Test. This time, the second game of the Ashes was played by Australia with a pink ball at the Gabba in Brisbane.

England collapsed in front of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who joined the team along with some other fast bowlers like Scott Boland, Michael Neser and Brendon Doggett. However, according to the Daily Mail report, England and Australia have now signed a new deal.

According to that agreement, pink ball Tests will not form part of future Ashes series after negotiations between England and Australia.

Australia’s tremendous record in day/night test

Australia are lopsided favorites when pink-ball Test matches are considered. Not only the pink-ball Ashes Test, but the Australian team has also been an almost undefeated favorite in the unique day and night Test matches.

The Australian team performs brilliantly under lights, winning 13 of the 14 matches they have played around the world, but England have never won pink-ball matches against any major frontline nation.

Mitchell Starc has been called the greatest pink ball master of all time, taking 80+ wickets at an average of around 17. He has taken five wicket hauls several times and his best performance is 6/9 against the West Indies. Pat Cummins is next in this list.

Australia currently dominates the WTC 2025-27 cycle

Currently, the Australian team is on top of the ICC World Test Championship points table in this edition of the WTC as well. They have been the favourites, having made the finals of two of the three WTC cycles played so far.

Earlier, Australia had won the ICC World Test Championship title against India in 2023, while they failed to defend their title against South Africa in 2025. At the same time, this time they have won 7 out of their 8 matches and are at the top of the points table, leaving behind many famous teams.

Their first win came in the form of a clean sweep over the West Indies and then they won four out of five matches in the Ashes against England. The Australian team hosted the game.
