Indian left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh’s father suddenly arrived on Ravichandran Ashwin’s show and the cricketer, amidst a sweet moment, raised the topic of Arshdeep Singh being repeatedly ignored from the Indian team.
Ravichandran Ashwin is known for hosting many Indian cricketers for interviews through his YouTube channel Ash Ki Baat. The veteran spinner has retired from all formats of the game but still continues to share his opinions on various decisions and moves related to the game, especially those related to Indian cricket.
The spinner had also talked about his retirement from IPL and was about to start his career in foreign leagues with the upcoming season of BBL. However, his happiness was cut short due to a knee injury, which delayed him from becoming the first Indian player to play in the Big Bash League.
Arshdeep Singh’s father joins Ravichandran Ashwin’s Aish Ki Baat episode
Legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who currently works on cricket through his YouTube channel, hosts the show ‘Aish Ki Baat’. As Ashwin was seen in conversation with veteran sports journalist Vimal Kumar, he met an unexpected guest on his channel.
Vimal Kumar pulled a man inside and asked Ashwin to identify him. The Indian cricketer immediately reacted as he recognized the man as the father of Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. Singh is currently playing in Australia and his father also happily responded to Ashwin.
It was a cute moment between the three, while Vimal Kumar teased the former cricketer by saying that Singh’s father is his fan and not Ashwin. Ashwin also commented humorously and said that Arshdeep should not give any interview to Vimal, who was looking for it for a long time.
Ashwin points to limited opportunities for Arshdeep Singh in the Indian team
During the conversation, Ravichandran Ashwin told Arshdeep Singh’s father that they were then discussing the cricketer being repeatedly neglected by the Indian team despite his stellar performances since his debut, especially in the shortest format of the game.
“Sir, we were just talking about your son. I was arguing with Vimal bhai on why Arshdeep Singh is not being played in the XI. Of course, you don’t need to answer anything; I understand. But Vimal bhai always says that Arshdeep should not be played, and I will support him on including Arshdeep,” Ravichandran Ashwin said.
