Former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin criticized Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast bowler Arshdeep Singh after his recent bowling performance. Ashwin questioned Arshdeep Singh’s lack of discipline in the ongoing IPL, pointing to his tendency to repeatedly bowl long overs and his failure to maintain consistent control.
Batting first at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) scored a mammoth score of 219 runs. Punjab Kings chased the target with nine balls remaining in the second innings. They moved up to second place in the table with seven points from four matches.
This needs attention – Ravichandran Ashwin on Arshdeep Singh’s wide balls
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin talked about the number of wide balls bowled by Arshdeep Singh. He told that Arshdeep Singh bowled wide balls against every team, which created big problems for Punjab Kings.
R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “These 14-ball and 12-ball overs by Arshdeep, I don’t know man. He did the same with the Indian team as well. He was bowling wide to Abhishek and then bowled straight into the hitting zone. So there is something there which needs to be taken care of.”
Arshdeep Singh dismissed Ishan Kishan and Salil Arora but conceded 50 runs in his expensive spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The fast bowler also hit four sixes and three fours in the match. This season his average is 74.50 and economy rate is 10.74.
SRH are running all over the place at the moment – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin said that Sunrisers Hyderabad lacks reliable bowling options except Shivang Kumar. He also expressed disappointment with the batting effort and said that aggressive players like Heinrich Klaasen should perform more.
Ashwin said, “SRH are running all over the place at the moment. They neither have any options nor any strength in their bowling. Shivang Kumar is doing as much as he can. With the kind of batting they have, they fell behind the score of 220. Klaasen is not able to play big hits these days.”
There is no strength in their bowling attack – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin further said that Sunrisers Hyderabad should aim for a score closer to 240 to compensate for their weak bowling attack. He also warned that Sunrisers Hyderabad may face an early exit.
“They have to target 240, there is no strength in their bowling attack. They won against KKR by playing well, but I don’t know. Many of these teams are in a similar situation. In the case of Delhi, if KL Rahul doesn’t play the entire innings, they will also struggle. I think there is going to be a real mid-table upset. SRH is a team that I think will get wiped out very quickly,” Ashwin said.
In their next match, Sunrisers Hyderabad will face unbeaten Rajasthan Royals. They need a crucial win at home on Monday to stop their losing streak after consecutive defeats against Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings.
