He did not stop here and took his 101st wicket in T20I cricket by dismissing Keshav Maharaj in the same over. With this, he became the first Indian cricketer and fifth bowler overall after Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, Lasith Malinga and Shaheen Afridi to achieve 100 wickets in all three formats.

Speaking after the game, Arshdeep Singh was asked what made Jasprit Bumrah achieve such a great feat, he replied with a cheeky statement and a big laugh. He said:

“Yes, I just told him (Bumrah), “Welcome.” Congratulated him and said, “Welcome to the club” (100 T20I wickets).”

Yes, it makes life a lot easier for the captain too – Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh said that the presence of Jasprit Bumrah in the team makes things easier for him and the captain. He elaborated:

“Yes, it makes life a lot easier for the captain as well. They can play with the bowling combination whenever they want. Jassi (Bumrah) bhai bowls three in the powerplay or I bowl three in the powerplay. We just try to give them as much flexibility as possible and we are enjoying each other’s company.

“I mean, I’m just trying to enjoy the present and have fun. It’s very rare that you get a chance to play on wickets like this where there’s seam and swing. So I just try to be patient, not get too excited by seeing the wicket help, stay disciplined and enjoy what it is.”

The thought process is simple: Just go out there and try to get as much help as you can in the wicket – Arshdeep

Talking about his thought process, Arshdeep Singh said that he tries to extract as much help as he can from the surface. he explained:

“The thought process is simple: just go out there and try to use as much help as you can in the wicket and try to get the team early wickets. I feel like if you were hitting the seam hard, there was something in the wicket, either it was getting more bounce or seaming inside or outside.

“So the idea was to hit the seam as hard as possible and get as much purchase as possible from the wicket. I bowled the full ball, got a wicket. Then bowled the full ball, went for four. Then I knew I had to bowl short, got a wicket on that. Again bowled the full ball, went for four. So yes, I was getting quick reminders there.”
