Arshdeep Singh made a unique record in the fifth T20 match against New Zealand. His spell of 5-51 became the most expensive five-wicket haul in men’s T20I history, breaking Joseph’s previous record.

New Zealand had a great start during the run chase. Arshdeep gave 17 runs in his first over but dismissed Tim Seifert for 5 runs. His second over yielded 23 runs as Finn Allen countered with four fours and a six. Allen scored 80 runs in 38 balls before getting out.

The left-arm fast bowler made a strong comeback later in the innings. In the 12th over, he dismissed Rachin Ravindra for 30 and Mitchell Santner for zero. Arshdeep completed his five wickets in the 16th over by dismissing Kyle Jamieson for 9 runs and Daryl Mitchell for 26 runs in 12 balls.

Arshdeep Singh played an important role in Team India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory.

India will once again rely heavily on Arshdeep Singh as they look to defend their T20 World Cup title in 2026. Since making his T20I debut in 2022, the left-arm fast bowler has become a reliable option in pressure situations.

Arshdeep played an important role in India’s title win in 2024. He finished the tournament as the second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in eight innings at an average of 12.64. He gave just four runs in the decisive 19th over of the final against South Africa in Barbados.

India will start its group campaign against America on February 7 in Mumbai. They will then play Namibia in Delhi on February 12 before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo on February 15. Their final group match will be against Netherlands in Ahmedabad on February 18.
