Arshdeep Singh publicly apologizes to Morne Morkel for ‘wide-ball’ in New Chandigarh

Arshdeep Singh bounced back after a dismal performance at New Chandigarh, where he lost control and bowled the longest over of his career with seven wides. Every time the bowler faltered, the cameras would focus on the bowler.

“After the last game, Morne told me that I had given him too much screen time because whenever I bowled a wide, the camera would turn towards the bowling coach,” Arshdeep Singh said.

Arshdeep Singh concluded, “Maybe people got the wrong idea that he (Morne Morkel) didn’t give the right strategy or didn’t practice enough with the bowlers.”

Arshdeep Singh also said that if the former South African fast bowler had been playing, he would not have been able to make it to the playing eleven.

Arshdeep claimed, “If the bowling coach had been playing on this wicket, I would not have been able to make it to the playing eleven.”

“I found out at 12 o’clock at night that I am playing tomorrow’s game” – Harshit Rana

Harshit Rana replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian playing XI for the third T20I against South Africa. Rana said that till late night he had no information about his inclusion in the final eleven.

Harshit Rana claimed, “I came to know at 12 o’clock in the night that I am playing tomorrow’s game.” It could be that Harshit Rana was kept in the playing eleven due to the sudden unavailability of Jasprit Bumrah due to personal reasons.

“With the height he has and the amount of bounce he takes off the track, he can definitely hit batsmen on such bouncy tracks,” Harshit Rana said.

Morne Morkel said, “All he saw on the screen was me.”

The Indian bowling coach has always been in the headlines whenever India struggled with the ball. Morne Morkel was also the focus of the second T20 match as the cameras kept him in focus during Arshdeep’s spell. Morkel claimed that he had received messages from players claiming that he was the only person visible on the screen during the match.

Morne Morkel said, “I have recently received a lot of messages from players in the 50-over team saying that I pay for my private channel, because they only saw me on the screen.”
