Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has made an explosive claim during a conversation during the IPL 2026 season. Arshdeep said that there are many people, including cricket experts and commentators, who like to see PBKS suffer.
Arshdeep Singh’s comments come after PBKS suffered their first defeat in the current season. In their last match, they lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Tira, Himachal Pradesh.
In an online discussion with a PBKS fan, the Punjab Kings and Team India star bowler claimed that some commentators are also clearly against the franchise. Singh believes that PBKS haters would have celebrated Punjab Kings’ defeat against Rajasthan Royals on April 28.
“If you listened to the commentators, they were not happy when we were claiming back-to-back wins. There are many people out there who don’t want to see us in a good position. Since we lost our last match, they got a chance to celebrate and criticize us,” Arshdeep Singh said.
The video also featured another PBKS star Yuzvendra Chahal, shaking his head in support of Singh’s allegations.
Arshdeep maintained economy rate of 17.00 against RR
On 28 April, at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh PCA Stadium, the home team for the match, Punjab Kings, scored 222 runs in 20 overs for only 4 runs. It was a good score and they also had a chance to defend this score in the second innings. In the middle stages of the run chase, Rajasthan Royals lost a number of wickets in short intervals allowing the Kings to make the contest more competitive.
Despite losing several important wickets, Royals’ young batsmen Donovan Ferreira (52 not out off 26 balls) and Shubham Dubey (31 not out off 12 balls) secured a crucial win for Rajasthan Royals. Dubey came to bat as an impact sub.
Arshdeep Singh is one of the top talents in Twenty20 cricket who has not featured in IPL 2026 so far. The 27-year-old player has taken only 8 wickets in 8 matches so far at an economy rate of 10.96. Against Rajasthan Royals he gave away an average of 17 runs. Overall, the seamer gave away 68 runs against only one wicket in 4 overs. He took the wicket of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was out after scoring 43 runs in 16 balls.
“In one or two matches, you can expect a poor performance from him (Arshdeep Singh), but most of the time it is happening. He is a bowler who is known for his wicket-taking ability. When he takes wickets with the new ball, he bowls well.”
Former Team India spinner Piyush Chawla, while speaking on ESPN Cricinfo after the Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match, said, “It is a cause for concern because if you look at the bigger picture, such a performance in a playoff game can affect the team.”
