Punjab Kings (PBKS) management may ban Arshdeep Singh from sharing videos, reels and vlogs on his social media accounts. The development is due to a video by Arshdeep, where Yuzvendra Chahal was allegedly caught vaping while the team was on the airplane.

Arshdeep Singh’s vlogs with team members, capturing the inside moments of the team, have become one of the concerns for the team management.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, protecting information related to all the participating teams has become one of the priorities for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and all the 10 teams of the league due to various reasons. One reason for this is apparently social media videos related to IPL teams.

Why might PBKS ask Arshdeep Singh to stop sharing team-related videos on the internet?

On 9 May, Cricbuzz reported that the Punjab Kings team management may formally ask Arshdeep Singh not to post any more videos from his social media accounts. In an official announcement through a meeting on Saturday, officials may ask Arshdeep Singh to stop posting video content on social media platforms.

“Cricbuzz understands that the franchise will communicate with the players as well as Arshdeep on Saturday evening and seek compliance with the recently issued advisory by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),” the media report claimed.

PBKS will arrange a meeting with its players

It is learned that PBKS officials will ask for a meeting with their players after the practice session at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. In a strict order, the board may bar all its players, including Arshdeep Singh, from providing team and league-related details in any form in the public domain.

Team and league related videos or content will be shared only through the team’s official social media accounts. Arshdeep is one of those players who is very active on social media platforms. Their videos and content get a significant amount of engagement on Instagram.

Earlier the news came that BCCI has issued a notification to all the 10 teams of the Indian Premier League, in which it has been told what to do and what not to do. It is the duty of the team managers to arrange a meeting with their respective team within 48 hours of receiving the instructions. PBKS will do the same as per the instructions of BCCI.

BCCI issues strict orders for all IPL teams

BCCI draws the attention of all franchises to the well-documented risks of targeted collusion and honey-trapping prevalent in high-profile sporting environments. The possibility of incidents giving rise to serious legal charges, including under laws applicable to sexual misconduct, cannot be ruled out.

BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia, in seven-page guidelines issued to franchises on Thursday evening, said IPL franchise management should remain alert and proactive to mitigate such risks at all times.

In strict order, BCCI asks all the members belonging to the league to adhere to the following points:

(a) All players and support staff must inform and obtain clearance from the SLO and/or TIO before departing from the team hotel at any time.

(b) Any planned movement outside the hotel for personal, recreational or any other purpose must be informed to the Team Manager and SLO well in advance of the intended departure.

(c) The SLO/TIO will maintain a contemporaneous log of all team activities, which will be made available to the BCCI Operations Team upon request.
