Arshdeep Singh, Birmingham was pulled by coaches during the training session

Team India’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is in controversy for his Test debut, if Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable for the second Test of the five -match series in England. According to a report by The Times of India on Friday 27 June, Arshdeep had a long training session during India’s first practice in Birmingham.

Jasprit Bumrah is allegedly set to remember two of the matches. In Blue, men will need to choose a new motion-bouncing Spearhead for the upcoming match against England. In particular, India has limited seam-bowling backup options in its squad, making it difficult to find replacement for Bumrah.

according to the report, Arshdeep Singh, yet to make his Test debut, was seen in collaboration with the bowling coach Morne Morkel. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasad Krishna were present on the ground, but did not attend the training session.

Bumrah has earlier stated that he plans to play three tests in the series and will decide further participation of how his body reacts to the workload.

After losing the first Test in Leeds, India Trail 0–1 in the current series, where England easily chased 371 runs. Ben Docket played an important role in that successful chase, while Bumrah became a wicket -free in the final innings.

Arshdeep Singh missed playing XI for India’s opening Test against England

Arshdeep Singh was not included in India’s playing XI for the opening test of the five-match series against England, despite receiving his first Test call-up for the tour. The 26-year-old left-handed pace will have to wait for its debut for India in red-ball cricket.

Arshdeep has played 21 first -class matches, taking 66 wickets in 37 innings at an average of 30.37. He has played for India in T20I and Odis. Pesar made his T20I debut against England in July 2022 and made his ODI against New Zealand in November 2022.

Arshdeep was last seen in action during the 2025 Indian Premier League, where he was about to take the top wicket for Punjab Kings. He took 21 wickets in 16 matches at an economy rate of 8.88.

Coaching staff is working on improving Mohammad Siraj’s batting before 2 Tests

India is likely to change its playing XI for the second Test. The team can correspond to better conditions for two spinners if the pitch is similar to dry and flat surface in the headingley.

While Arshdeep Singh’s training attracted attention, the coaching staff also focused on improving Mohammad Sirj’s batting. Batting coach Satanshu Kotak rapidly worked extensively with the bowler to fix his technology. India’s lower order struggled in both innings of the first Test.

England captain Ben Stokes said it was important to dismiss India’s tail cheaply in his victory. With the expectation of another flat pitch in Edgbaston, India would be expecting more resistance from its tailnder in the second Test.
