Notably, Rohit was also the ICC brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026. 38-year-old Rohit had led the Indian team to the title in the last edition of the T20 World Cup in 2024. It is noteworthy that this was India’s first ICC title after a drought of 11 years.
Arshdeep Singh reveals his plans for Instagram Reels
Even before the last ball was bowled, the star pacer had prepared his social media script. Speaking to veteran broadcaster Harsha Bhogle after the historic win, Arshdeep talked about his grand celebration plans.
“I have thought of ten or fifteen reels, let’s see how many we make,” he told Harsha Bhogle in an interview after India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the T20 World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Arshdeep did not take any wickets in the summit clash and finished with figures of 0/32. His performance throughout the tournament was important. The left-arm fast bowler took nine wickets in eight matches, making India the first host nation to defend their T20 World Cup title.
Suryakumar Yadav joins Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni
Suryakumar Yadav added his name to the elite list of India’s T20 World Cup-winning captains, joining MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. India won the trophy for the first time under Dhoni in the inaugural edition in 2007, defeating Pakistan by five runs in a thrilling final in Johannesburg.
After finishing as runners-up in 2014 after losing to Sri Lanka, India had to wait until 2024 to regain the title. Rohit Sharma led the team to that victory as the Men in Blue defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final in Bridgetown.
The 2026 win further cemented India’s legacy in this format. With this success, they achieved several milestones, becoming the first team to win consecutive T20 World Cups, successfully defend the title and lift the trophy as the host nation.
