Apply for posts of Rohit Sharma’s friend and a controversial Bharat Pesar BCCI selectors

Praveen Kumar, a friend of former India’s Pesar and Rohit Sharma, has submitted his application for a role as a national selector representing the central region. BCCI opened applications for two posts in the Senior Men’s Selection Committee on August 22, under the chairmanship of Ajit Agrakar, with a time limit on 10 September.

Kumar is currently serving as a senior male chief selector of Uttar Pradesh. Former India’s Pesar Subroto Banerjee is representing the central region in the selection committee. Applicants should retire from all forms of cricket for at least five years and meet the minimum sports norms in testing, first class, or list-A matches.

According to an IANS report, Praveen Kumar has applied for the national selector role representing the central region. East-Indian pacer RP Singh is also allegedly considering applying before the time limit of 10 September.

Praveen Kumar, who claimed 112 wickets in 84 international matches in all formats, is considered one of India’s infallible cricketers. He took 10 wickets during the 2008 Commonwealth Bank series, he played an important role in India’s tournament victory.

The Right-Arm Pacer was named in the 2011 World Cup squad of India, but had to withdraw due to the elbow injury, with Sreesanth’s place a few days before the tournament started.

Kumar made his Test debut in 2011, taking 27 wickets in six matches at an average of 25 on an average. Australia limited only one handful of Odis and T20I before its final international appearance in March 2012, including a rib fracture before Australia’s visit to Australia.

RP Singh is yet to apply, Pragan Ojha is involved in the race to South Region

The Senior Male Selection Committee currently consists of Ajit Agkar, SS Das and Ajay Ratra. RP Singh has not applied yet. He represented India in 82 matches in all formats from 2005 to 2011 and was part of the MS Dhoni -led squad who won the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Singh also served at the BCCI Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) between 2020 and 2022 before the Mumbai Indians were included as Talent Scouts. Additionally, he has regularly appeared on the Hindi cricket commentary panel for India’s matches and IPL.

East India’s left -handed spinner Pragan Ojha has applied for the role of a national selector from the south region. Ojha played 24 Tests, 18 Odis and six T20I for India between 2008 and 2013, taking 144 international wickets.

S Sharath has been representing the south region since January 2023 since September 2021 served as Chairman of Junior Selection Committee.

The BCCI has also opened applications for four vacancies in the Women’s National Selection Committee and with a time limit of 10 September in a junior men’s selection committee.
