Former India coach Anil Kumble looked disappointed with Indian opener KL Rahul’s batting after he was clean bowled by Simon Harmer during India’s chase in the second innings of the Guwahati Test.
India would never have imagined that it would lose the South Africa series in such a shameful manner. They not only lost the first game but were also humiliated when they failed to chase the target of 124 runs and were bowled out for less than 100.
The Guwahati track, which had given chances to many more batsmen, also did not look that good for them, as the Indian batsmen struggled against the Protea bowlers and even failed to get past the follow-on score. With one day left and 522 runs still needed and only 8 wickets in hand, even a draw would be a great honor for the Indians.
Anil Kumble’s reaction to KL Rahul’s dismissal clearly shows disgust
KL Rahul opened the innings in all four innings against South Africa in the series, and despite showcasing an exceptional record against the nation, Rahul has failed to score any runs on home soil.
KL Rahul has often looked very high on defensive work rate and has now often missed his defence. As Rahul came to bat in the final innings of the series, he needed to remain patient and play for as long as possible, as he is one of the most experienced batsmen in the team.
However, Rahul was dismissed as he played against the wrong line of the ball from Simon Harmer, who turned the ball sharply and hit his off-stump. Then Anil Kumble, who was present in the commentary box, gestured with his hand and looked extremely disappointed with the shot.

What will be India’s position in the WTC points table if it loses in Guwahati?
Currently, South Africa are the defending champions of the WTC and are second in the points table behind Australia, who have remained undefeated so far in this cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.
If South Africa win their third consecutive game in the WTC and earn another 12 points, they are likely to take their PCT past 75, meaning it would consolidate their position at second place. However, the defeat would have a huge impact on them, as they would drop to fourth place; However, the draw keeps them unaffected.
If India manages to win this game, they can finish third in the points table, and if they draw the game, there will be nothing much in their favour. If they lose the match, they will fall behind Pakistan for the first time in the WTC.
KL Rahul has been appointed India’s ODI captain
Indian batsman KL Rahul has been appointed India’s ODI captain as Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the India vs South Africa ODI series. Shubman Gill is likely to be out of the T20 series also.
Shubman Gill was appointed captain of the Indian team after Rohit Sharma was removed from the responsibilities ahead of the Australia tour. KL Rahul will now captain his former captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
