Ambati Rayudu takes up new role in Hyderabad Cricket Association

In a major development, former Team India batsman Ambati Rayudu was on Tuesday appointed the new head of cricket operations of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Rayudu himself announced his new role in the Indian cricket team through a social media post on ‘X’ on the evening of 5 May.

Ambati Rayudu has taken charge with immediate effect for an initial tenure of three years. As the new head of cricket operations of the state association, the former cricketer steps in with high ambitions of carrying out corrective actions at the board. His actions are expected to impact the composition of the board.

“I am very happy to announce that I have been appointed as the Head of Cricket Operations for HCA by Justice P Naveen Rao (SMC), M Jeevan Reddy (Secretary HCA) and the Apex Council. It is a great opportunity to clear a few things, but I am more excited to nurture the immense cricket talent in Hyderabad and Telangana and groom more players to represent the country,” Ambati Rayudu on joining HCA with a bigger role Announced his arrival.

Rayudu clarified his point of view

In his first official statement as the new HCO of Hyderabad Cricket Association, Ambati Rayudu mentioned that the administration part and cricket should be operated separately. As an official, one of the major jobs of the former cricketer will be to look after the welfare of the players, so that the Hyderabad cricket team can emerge as a cricket powerhouse in the future.

Ambati Rayudu said in his official statement, “I strongly believe that cricket should be kept separate from administration and all other related matters. Cricket should be run giving priority to the players and my job is to take care of the welfare of the players and make Hyderabad a powerhouse of domestic cricket.”

He also talked about the player contract system in his statement. To really streamline the process, the former international cricketer could follow in the footsteps of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Rayudu also planned to set up a center of excellence in Bengaluru.

He said, “A player contract system, as recently announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association, is in the pipeline. We will modernize and professionalize our cricket operations, which will be automated to avoid human intervention.”

Hyderabad Cricket Association is expanding its operations

On behalf of the State Cricket Board, the HCA Secretary informed that they are actively discussing ways to reach out to every corner of the rural areas as well as unearth some raw talent from the areas. He also confirmed a ground to hold the camp in future. They also have plans to acquire some land to expand their operations.

“There are new stadiums in Mahabubnagar and Karimnagar. Apart from these two, we have also acquired a ground in Nizamabad. We are also in discussions to acquire land in Khammam, Warangal and Nalgonda. This should be finalized in the next two or three months,” HCA secretary M. Jeevan Reddy told the media.
