Former Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu has given a big statement regarding Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He said that if LSG somehow reaches the playoffs, it can win the IPL today.
Rishabh Pant’s team is struggling for form and consistency and is already out of the playoff race in IPL 2026. Their exit in 2026 marks the third consecutive year that they have been eliminated in the group stages of the IPL.

LSG loses six in a row in 2026
After a great start to the season, where they won 2 of their first 3 games, LSG hit a freefall. Near the beginning, they won 2 matches in a row and lost so badly that they were eventually eliminated from the season.
Lucknow Super Giants lost 6 consecutive matches in the middle stage of IPL 2026 and eventually became the first team to be eliminated from the tournament. Now, they have made a mini-resurgence by winning 2 of their last 3 matches. Overall, Super Giants are at tenth position in the points table with 4 wins from 12 matches.
While LSG’s bowling – especially Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan – has been impressive, barring Mitchell Marsh, their batting has been weak. The team has changed its batting line-up and batting order several times in the tournament.

“If they are put in the playoffs, they can win the IPL” – Ambati Rayudu
Speaking on ESPN Cricinfo, Ambati Rayudu said that LSG’s current form is one of the best among all the teams in the league. He also said that if this current team is put into the playoffs, they will win the IPL in their current form.
Rayudu also credited Josh Inglis for stabilizing the batting order around him. Inglis was unavailable for most of the tournament, but had an immediate impact upon his arrival. “I think if you seed them in the playoffs, they are going to win the IPL. That’s how good they are looking at the moment.”
“He has just come into tremendous form. It has got a lot better with Inglis coming into the XI. He looks very stable. He has stabilized the whole batting order around him. I think Pooran is also coming into form a bit, but he looks very dangerous,” he said.
Rayudu also continued to talk about the Super Giants’ chances against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Tuesday. “RR will be up against it because LSG feel they are going to score 200-220 every game. With the bowling they have, it looks like they will defend it or even restrict the opponent to a low score.”
He further added, “Lucknow, if they play to their potential, are way ahead of RR at the moment. It is unfortunate that they could not do that at the beginning of the season. So I think Lucknow is the favorite for me.”
Upcoming schedule of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026
Although they are no longer in the race for the playoffs, the Super Giants have a golden opportunity to play party-pooper in both their remaining matches.
They will play Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Tuesday before traveling to their home base in Lucknow to face Punjab Kings on May 23. These matches are essentially must-win matches for both RR and PBKS.
