India’s historic win in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final was a dream come true for millions of fans and every player had a special role in making it happen. Smriti Mandhana’s consistency, Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership, Deepti Sharma’s all-round talent and Pratika Raval’s fearless batting helped India Women win their first World Cup title.
But one of the most emotional and inspiring stories was that of Amanjot Kaur right after India’s memorable 52-run win over South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final in Navi Mumbai. Kaur gave her all on the field before suffering heartbreak on November 2.

The cricketer’s family visited the hospital regularly, but they did not tell Amanjot about it, as they did not want him to worry or lose his focus during such an important tournament. Unaware of the domestic conditions, Amanjot played with full dedication and helped India win its first title.
The Indian Express quoted Amanjot’s father Bhupinder Singh as saying, “My mother Bhagwanti has been Amanjot’s pillar of strength since the day he started playing cricket outside on the street and in the park at our Phase 5 residence in Mohali. When I was at my carpentry shop in Balongi, she would make sure to sit outside the house or in the park and watch Amanjot playing with the boys as well as other girls.”
