Healy responded with her trademark cheeky humor and said she would stick to beer for herself. His playful reply kept the celebration going after his record-breaking innings. She cheekily responded, “Thanks, have a beer for me, thanks (laughs).”

Meanwhile, Australia Women recorded a thrilling win by defeating India Women by three wickets in their ICC Women’s World Cup clash at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. The seven-time champions chased down the mammoth target of 331 runs, thanks to a sensational innings from Alyssa Healy.

Healy played a brilliant inning of 142 runs in 107 balls, which included 21 fours and 3 sixes. She dominated the Indian bowlers and helped Australia achieve its highest-ever successful run chase in women’s ODI history, surpassing Sri Lanka’s previous record of 302 against South Africa in 2024.

Thanks to half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, India had set a challenging target of 330 runs. The Australian captain’s innings was historic in many ways. Healy’s 142 is the highest score against India in Women’s World Cup history, breaking former England captain Charlotte Edwards’ previous record of 109.

It is also the second highest individual score against India in women’s ODI, with England’s Claire Taylor’s 156 at Lord’s in 2006 being the highest score. Healy created history by becoming the first wicketkeeper-captain to score a century in the history of the Women’s World Cup.

She is also the second wicketkeeper-captain to score a century in Women’s ODI after Bangladesh’s Nigar Sultana earlier this year. Additionally, this was the Australian wicketkeeper-batsman’s first century since the 2022 World Cup final and his sixth century in ODIs.

Among Australian players, only Meg Lanning (15) and Karen Rolton (8) have more centuries. It also marked her third century in the World Cup and equaled Lanning and Rolton for the most centuries by an Australian woman in the history of the tournament.
