Shubman Gill hit a dual century on day 2
Since handling the leadership of the Indian Test team, Gill looks like a completely different batsman and played with much maturity.
The right -handed batsman hit his first innings as a Test captain in Hadingley in Leeds in a century in a century and carried forward his good form in the second match.
He looked calm and was composed in the middle on day 1 and batted patiently. Gill took his time to set his eyes and completed his fifty off 125 balls, which is the slowest ever. He then completed his century with 199 balls and completed the day with 114 runs.
The right -handed batsman started day 2 with great confidence and determined to score a daddy hundred. He reached a 150 -run mark in 263 balls and then set his eyes on a double ton.
After working hard in the middle, Gill finally completed his dual century off the first ball of the 122nd over, bowled by Josh tongue.
Before making his trademark gestures, he drew a delivery from a single leg to a single leg for a single to reach the milestone.
Shubman Gill became the first Indian captain to score a double hundred in England
Gill’s performance at Edgbaston in Birmingham has helped him become the first Indian captain to score a double hundred in England and overall Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul are the third batsman after Dravid.
He also has the highest score for an Indian captain in England’s testing and is only the second Indian captain scoring a double ton from the house after Virat Kohli, who achieved the feat in 2016.
Gill is the sixth Indian batsman, who registers a Test double ton as captain after Pataudi Junior, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

The vultures were circling, critics had prepared their pens and then the man went on fire in his eyes and let his bat talk. The cricket gods chose their utensils, and they distributed.

Very good Shubhman Gill … 1 Indian captain to score a double hundred … It’s not about the record that it is about scoring and saving a team that is probably the weakest test aspect in the history of Indian cricket traveling to England … It is called a character @Shubmangill,
