Indian left-handed batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his 7th Test century against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium; With this century, he is behind the great Sachin Tendulkar in the list of most Test centuries by an Indian at the age of 23.
India is playing its second match of the two-match Test series against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. On the first day of the first Test, Indian captain Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bat first.
Arun Jaitley is often touted as one of India’s most suited batting tracks, and Indian opener Jaiswal proved it right with a brilliant innings under pressure. Jaiswal missed runs in the latter part of the England series and was also out early in the first Test of the home series; So, he was chasing runs.

Despite KL Rahul’s early dismissal at Delhi Capitals’ home ground, the 23-year-old left-handed Indian batsman remained composed and batted convincingly against the West Indies attack, which looked short against the Indian batsmen.
While Jassiwal maintained his composure and batted brilliantly throughout his partnerships with KL Rahul and then SAI Sudarshan, he brought up his seventh Test century off just 145 balls. This is his third century on Indian soil, the other four being in Australia, West Indies and England.
He is one of the great players to have scored 7 Test centuries at the age of less than 24. While Don Bradman tops the list with 12 centuries before turning 24, Sachin Tendulkar is at second place with 11 centuries, and he is followed by Sir Garfield Sobers with 9 centuries.
However, Jaiswal has equaled the likes of Javed Miandad, Graeme Smith, Alastair Cook and Kane Williamson in the list of cricketers with 7 centuries before the age of 24. He is also India’s third highest century scorer in WTC history with 7 centuries.
Sai Sudarshan finds his rhythm – second Test half-century in the second Test against West Indies
Along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, another cricketer who caught everyone’s attention in this match is Sai Sudarshan. Although all Indian fans are well aware of Sai Sudarshan’s ability as a cricketer, his return to form was highly expected ever since his debut in the longest format of the game.
With just one half-century in the England tour, he scored just 140 runs in 6 innings and subsequently missed the mark in the first Test in Ahmedabad. However, this time, given the opportunity due to Rahul’s early dismissal, he contributed heavily to the partnership with Jaiswal.
Sudarshan is now batting on 71* at tea on the first day of the second Test and is eyeing his maiden Test century to retain his place as India’s No. 3 in the next Test series against South Africa later this year.
