Akshar Patel credits BCCI’s ‘Test Incentive Scheme’ for inspiring future generations
In recent times, the domestic setup has seen many red-ball players playing in domestic competitions such as the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. Players have become more dedicated to this format than ever before.
Akshar highlighted that the Test incentives provided by the BCCI under Jay Shah’s plans have attracted players towards the red-ball format. This has made Indian players more committed to playing in international Test cricket. He told how Jay Shah had supported the domestic players during Covid.
He further added, “The Test Incentive Scheme is a big inspiration for the youth to pursue red-ball cricket more. Even during Covid times when we did not play much, Jai Bhai supported the domestic men’s and women’s teams financially.”
Axar Patel will captain Delhi Capitals for the second time in IPL 2026
The Indian all-rounder will be seen leading the Delhi Capitals franchise for the second time in the IPL. Delhi Capitals chose Axar as their premier all-rounder for several seasons and he has been consistently performing well for them.
He was one of the few retained players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Under his captaincy, the Capitals finished fifth in the points table in 2025 and missed a place in the playoffs by a narrow margin.
The Capitals captain has also made an extraordinary contribution to India. He can take the ball at any stage of the game, be it power play or death overs. Also, Axar is very adept at batting at any position in the batting order and can play both the strengthening and pacing roles.
