KKR has suffered another major blow to its bowling department as the Bengal pacer has been ruled out of the race for IPL 2026. The fast bowler is a star for Bengal in the domestic format of Indian cricket and has represented India at the international level.
The IPL has turned into an injured players’ league for Kolkata Knight Riders as their campaign has collapsed even before it started. Akash Deep has previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (then Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.
KKR suffers another injury blow before IPL 2026
Kolkata Knight Riders’ campaign had already suffered a major setback after Harshit Rana was ruled out of IPL 2026. The Indian fast bowler was struggling with injury ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup; Therefore, the player was also dropped from the World Cup squad.
His recovery is delayed and hence he has been ruled out. Another player whose participation is also uncertain includes Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana, who was picked at a whopping price of Rs 18 crore. Even if he gets clearance to play, it won’t be before mid-April.

Now, Cricbuzz reports that Indian fast bowler Akash Deep, who was bought at his base price in the mini-auction, has also been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to injury. Akash Deep was being considered as Rana’s replacement in the KKR camp.
