Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar expressed concern over the fitness challenges faced by India’s fast bowlers before the fourth Test against England. Manjrekar said that Indian seam bowlers are not fit for a long time, calling it a “serious issue”, which needs to be addressed by Indian cricket.

Akash Deep replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the second Test and gave a performance to win a match. He took 10 wickets including 6-99 in the second innings, helping India to win 336 runs. However, he could not repeat the form in Lord’s, both were managing only one wicket in the innings.
Left -arm Seemar Arshdeep Singh suffered his bowling hand injury during a training session in Bekenham. In response to injuries, Haryana’s Pesar Anshul Kamboj has been added to the squad for the final two matches of the series.

Sanjay Manjrekar said that there are bowling options in India, but most of them are inexperienced. He said that despite the presence of raw talent, a limited pool of seamers tested in India is available.
“I think there is an option. But all unwanted young seams with talent. Arshdeep is an exciting option, and Anshul Kamboj. I liked Harshit Rana in a Test played in Australia. Always be around the seam bowlers. But this is the kind of landscape that we have.”

Sanjay Manjrekar said that the seamors of India are struggling to stay fit. Manjrekar said that Akash Deep has not lost much through the season, but still hurt. He called it a “serious issue” and urged the BCCI to investigate the root cause.
“With IPL, white-ball cricket, and tests, we do not have long fit for our fast bowlers. Akash Deep is a great example. It’s not that they have bowled a lot through the season, and therefore, now, fit or workload management was not addressed properly,” said the approved.
“I think it has become a serious issue, where you have a long -time Indian seam bowlers fit, and it is to be addressed by Indian cricket. We look at young, exciting bowling talent in the IPL, and after three matches, they are not seen in the next season. Some need to reach its bottom,” he said.
