Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may have retained their places in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three -match ODI series in Australia, but they will have to meet all BCCI demands to be in a dispute for the ICC World Cup 2027 in South Africa.
After announcing the white-ball squad for the upcoming Australia Tour, Indian chief selector Ajit Aggarkar has given a strong message to all senior players including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma before the busy season. In particular, both Kohli and Rohit retired from tests and T20I.

The Indian Selection Committee has made it clear that Kohli and Rohit will be expected to participate in the domestic tournament, including the Vijay Hazare Trophy, whenever they are not on international duty.

Ajit Agkar told the media after unveiling the squads for the Australia Tour, “We have made it clear that whenever players are available, they should play domestic cricket. If you are not playing international cricket, you hope to play domestic cricket.”
Recently, Kohli showed no interest in playing a white-ball game against Australia A.
