He said, “He was also a captain for India. It is not that we are seeing him as a Test captain. Therefore, you are trying to find the qualities of a leader in many people, and India gave us a chance to see if someone had that ability,” he said.

Ajit Agarkar also talked about Shers Iyer’s decision to take a six-month break from red-ball cricket. Agarkar insisted that Iyer remains an important player in ODI setup. He said that Iyer’s absence from red-ball cricket gives other players an opportunity.
“Unfortunately, I think the statement regarding his fitness in the context of red ball cricket was already excluded. He will not be available, and this will give us a chance,” said Agkar.
He said, “I mean, he has been a prominent player in one -day cricket over the years. Therefore, we get three games before going to Australia, and nothing, we want him to play there and play well because he becomes a prominent member in a day squad,” he said.
