Agarkar becomes chairman of selectors in 2023. Later, in 2025, the tenure of the former Indian fast bowler was extended by one year following India’s consistent success in the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025. His current contract is due to expire in September 2026.
Ajit Agarkar’s extension request put on hold till September 2026
Well, now he wants to remain the chief selector till the 2027 ODI World Cup, but as per the rules, a senior selector can hold the post for four years. Therefore, the matter is likely to be discussed only after his current term ends at the end of this year, and only then will a decision be taken.
