South Africa swept India in the two-match series. The visiting team started by winning the first Test in Kolkata and maintained the same momentum in the second match in Guwahati. The Proteas recorded a massive 408-run win and a 2–0 clean sweep, their first Test series win in India in 25 years.
Aiden Markram creates history by taking most catches by an outfielder in a Test
Aiden Markram made history by taking more catches than any other outfielder in a single match in Tests. After the dismissal of Washington Sundar, he completed his ninth catch of the match. Markram overtook the previous record of Ajinkya Rahane (8) during the match against Sri Lanka in 2015.
In India’s first innings, he took catches of KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav. In the second innings, he dismissed Sai Sudarshan, Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant and Sundar.
Markram’s exceptional athletic ability allows him to cover the ground quickly and reach opportunities that most players cannot. His catching technique makes him one of the safest fielders in world cricket.
