Former Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad shocked everyone during a live sports discussion with his bold and sharp comment on Mohammad Aamir, who was sitting right next to him. Ahmed Shehzad’s unexpected comment on Mohammad Aamir went viral on social media platforms.

Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Amir and Rashid Latif were discussing Pakistan’s selection call for the upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh after their poor campaign in the T20 World Cup 2026, where they were eliminated in the Super 8 round on Geo News’ ‘Harna Man Hai’ show.

Player will not always be perfect: Mohammad Aamir

However, things suddenly turned awkward when Shehzad strongly supported young wicketkeeper-batsman Hasibullah Khan and questioned the selectors’ decision to drop him from the upcoming ODI series against the Bangladesh national cricket team.

Mohammad Amir said on the show, “The system itself is excluding these players. Cases like Ben Stokes and Alex Hales had come to light earlier also, but they were not completely ruled out. Every player can make mistakes and sometimes there can be disciplinary problems. This does not mean that a player should be thrown out of the system forever. I am not saying that the player will always be perfect.”

He further added, “There may be problems, and people may raise questions. But the real responsibility lies with the system. If a player is your product, like your own child, then it is your duty to guide him, support him and help him improve rather than just pushing him aside.”

What is shocking is that Shehzad made sharp remarks about players who have spent time in jail in the past. He also got a chance in the Pakistani team, so why is the 22-year-old talented batsman from Balochistan not getting a chance? This statement immediately created an uncomfortable situation on the show as Aamir was sitting right next to her.

He clearly reminded me of Aamir’s involvement in the infamous Pakistan spot-fixing scandal of 2010, which led to his imprisonment in the UK years ago. “Has anyone here gone to jail? Some players in our system have faced jail in the past. It is a reality. But still, we are not here to blindly defend anyone or attack anyone personally,” Shehzad said during the discussion.

Shehzad further said, “We have no personal issues with Hasibullah Khan. We are not related to him in any way. The point is simple – the young player deserves a fair opportunity to prove himself. Even Rohail Nazir is performing well and deserves recognition for his efforts. But somehow these players are being ignored while others are being selected.”

Questions raised on exclusion of Hasibullah Khan

He questioned the selection of Muhammad Ghazi Ghauri despite the ongoing debate around it. The debate started after Hasibullah was dropped from Pakistan’s ODI squad for the Bangladesh tour starting on March 11. The selectors chose young Ghauri in place of Hasibullah Khan.

Former cricketers pointed to the huge gap in domestic figures. Hasibullah has been one of the most consistent performers in List A cricket, with an average of almost 45 and 9 centuries and 11 fifties to his name, while his replacement numbers have been very low. Because of this, he felt that the talented wicketkeeper was unfairly overlooked despite strong performances.
