Oman’s young cricketers Aryan Bisht and Samay Srivastava were stunned by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fearless power-hitting during the ongoing Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. Both players admitted that they were amazed by the left-handed batsman’s ability to cross the boundary with such ease at just 14 years of age.
Vaibhav scored 144 runs against UAE in just 42 balls at a strike rate of more than 340 with the help of 11 fours and 15 sixes. The left-handed batsman became the joint second fastest T20I century by an Indian. He scored 45 runs in 28 balls against Pakistan Shaheens, proving that his previous innings was no fluke.
You are 14 years old, how do you hit these shots? -Aryan Bisht
The young players of Oman are surprised by the explosive batting of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Ahead of the clash with India A, Aryan Bisht said he couldn’t believe that the 14-year-old could hit long sixes with such ease.
“We have seen Vaibhav Suryavanshi only on TV, and now we will play against him. When you are 14 years old and you are able to hit the ball so far, it is extraordinary talent,” Aryan Bisht said in an interview with TimesofIndia.com.
“It’s something that not everyone can do – definitely something I couldn’t do at that age. 14 years old, how do you die these kicks? [At 14, how are you smashing those sixes?] He is really talented and very good, so I am really looking forward to playing against him,” he said.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi – This is a great opportunity to meet Samay Srivastava
Samay Srivastava, who previously played for Madhya Pradesh before moving abroad for better cricket opportunities, described the upcoming game as a valuable chance to learn from the 14-year-old sensation. Srivastava said that he wanted to know Suryavanshi’s attitude towards cricket.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet him. I just want to know his mindset about cricket,” Srivastava said. “He is only 14 years old and he is already doing great for his cricket and for India. The way he hits big sixes is extraordinary. I really want to meet and talk to him.”
Srivastava is yet to get his first wicket in the tournament. The 34-year-old leg spinner conceded only 26 runs in his four overs in the game against Pakistan A. However, he proved more expensive in the match against UAE, conceding 35 runs in his four overs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the highest run-scorer in Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has shown exceptional power-hitting throughout the tournament, surprising even Oman’s young players as they prepare for their biggest challenge of the competition.
The left-handed batsman has scored 189 runs in two matches at an average of 94.50 and a strike rate of 270.00. He is currently the highest run scorer in the tournament. The opening batsman will next be seen in the match against Oman at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium on November 18.
India, present in Group B, is currently placed second in the points table with one win and one loss. India A team will need to quickly recover from their recent defeat and regain control of their campaign against Oman.
