Former head coach of the Indian national cricket team Ravi Shastri has taken a sharp dig at the current head coach Gautam Gambhir and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar.

Ravi Shastri’s sharp comment came after great modern-day batsman Virat Kohli scored a sensational century at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

Kohli showed intent from the start and stitched a remarkable partnership of 136 runs in 109 balls with Rohit Sharma, who was out for 57.

Even after Rohit’s dismissal, Kohli persisted and scored his 52nd century in ODI cricket. He played an inning of 135 runs in 120 balls with the help of 11 fours and 7 sixes.

The innings came amid reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar are planning to take a final decision on the batsman’s future.

Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri made a scathing comment on-air after Kohli scored his century, saying that he silenced many people.

Shastri, commentating, said, “That’s No. 52. Got it with a four. Punched the air in joy. It’s been a long wait. This is the format he plays now, and he would have silenced a lot of people on his third appearance on the field.”

“The way he got there, it was a brilliant innings. Just the timing of that shot,” he said.

Speaking with ANI, Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma talked about the batsman’s 83rd international century.

Rajkumar Sharma said that Kohli is loved by his fans globally and he hopes that the batsman will continue to bring smiles on people’s faces. He said:

“Virat Kohli is loved by his fans globally and he has given a fitness mantra to Indian cricket…I don’t think anyone has ensured victory for Team India like he did…May he keep bringing smiles on the faces of the people of the country.”

Batting great Virender Sehwag was also impressed with Kohli’s performance and told Ax:

“Virat Kohli again showed that scoring runs is as easy for him as making tea. 52nd ODI century. Kohli is not chasing records, records are chasing Kohli. Today the hunger is still the same, the passion is the same. King to King hi rahta hai! (Virat Kohli once again showed that scoring runs is as easy for him as making tea for us.
