Suryakumar Yadav-led India continued their unbeaten run by defeating Pakistan by 61 runs in the 27th match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026. This was India’s third win in as many games in the competition and secured their place in the next round.
The Men in Blue completely dominated Pakistan in the match held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Even though Pakistan had the advantage of playing their first two matches at the same venue, it was of no use as they proved no match for the defending champions.

India beats Pakistan:
Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slick surface. The Men in Green got off to a good start as Abhishek Sharma was out for a duck in the very first over. However, Ishan Kishan changed the course of the match with his stormy innings.
He scored a half-century in 27 balls and scored 77 runs in just 40 balls. His brilliant innings included 10 fours and three sixes. He was the only batsman to score a half-century from either side. India eventually ended their innings at 175/7 in 20 overs.
In reply, Pakistan team was out for only 114 runs. They lost three wickets within the first two overs and could not recover after that. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out on a paltry score. Usman Khan scored the highest score of 44 runs for him, while Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Varun Chakraborty took two wickets each.
Hardik Pandya lost his temper:
It was a perfect performance for Team India, but there were some tense moments towards the end of the match after Hardik Pandya missed two catches. This incident happened in the 18th over when Hardik Pandya was bowling to Shaheen Afridi. On the very first ball of the over, Afridi bowled the ball behind the stump but Kishan dropped it.
Hardik Pandya was not happy at all and was seen abusing Kishan. Afridi again missed the catch on the very next ball and this time the mistake was made by Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep missed a very easy chance at long-on. Not only this, the ball also went across the boundary line for a six, due to which Hardik Pandya became absolutely furious.
Heated exchange between Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Kuldeep:
As soon as Kuldeep dropped the catch, an animated Pandya pointed towards both Ishan and Kuldeep and cursed them. Pandya gave victory to India by dismissing Afridi in the same over.
Even after the win, Pandya was not at all happy with the fielding effort and was seen having a heated argument with Kuldeep. Later, captain Suryakumar Yadav was also seen saying something to Kuldeep in an animated manner, while the players were shaking hands with each other.
