Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi, who came into limelight in the last Ranji Trophy and his stellar performances in the Duleep Trophy, has continued his good work after being denied selection in the India A squad for the upcoming series against Australia A.
Selection in the Indian team has been controversial in recent times. The Indian selectors recently selected the India A squad for the series against South Africa A at the BCCI Center of Excellence but surprisingly left out some standout performers like Sarfaraz Khan and Auqib Nabi from the squad.
This has caused massive communal as well as political uproar, as the players belong to a different religion than the chief selector and political leaders have targeted Ajit Agarkar over this.
Auqib Nabi led Jammu and Kashmir to victory with bat and ball.
Auqib Nabi has been a standout performer in Indian domestic circles over the past year. He has enjoyed unprecedented success representing Jammu and Kashmir in domestic tournaments and has made the red ball format his benchmark.
He knocked the doors of selection with his strong performance in the last Ranji season and then in the Duleep Trophy as well. However, he was overlooked for a place in the India A team for the upcoming series.
Worried about his lack of selection, Nabi has decided to work hard on control. He produced another eye-opening performance as he took 10 wickets in the game against Rajasthan, taking 3 wickets in the first innings, followed by 7 wickets in the next innings and also scored a half-century in the third. Led Jammu and Kashmir to victory against Rajasthan by 9.
If knocking the door does not open then the only option is to break it and no one can understand this better than Auqib Nabi. After being ignored again from the India A team, he took 10 wickets and scored fifty at no. 9 helped Jammu and Kashmir defeat Rajasthan #RanjiTrophy

Nabi overlooked for India A team despite impressive red-ball stats
While Auqib Nabi was given the Player of the Match award for his commendable performance in the Ranji Trophy, excitement has increased for the North Indian fast bowler claiming an India A spot. Anyway, he deserved a place in the team and possibly even in the playing eleven.
Just by looking at Nabi’s first-class statistics, he will get a clear place not only in the team but also in the playing eleven of India A. These are the areas where Agarkar and the BCCI administration have been under question.
In 12 matches since the start of the last Ranji Trophy, he has taken 68 wickets at an average of 13.1, with 8 five-wicket hauls to his name. To add to the figures, he has also taken four wickets twice.

Prithvi Shaw scored the third fastest double century of Ranji Trophy
Indian U19 captain Prithvi Shaw has regained his lost shine before Shaw leaves for Maharashtra. After being dropped from the Ranji team in 2024-25, he moved from Mumbai to Maharashtra with NOC.
He created history in just his second match for Maharashtra as he scored a double century in just 141 balls in the second innings of the ongoing Group B match against Chandigarh.
Shaw scored the double century in just 141 balls and is the third fastest player to reach this milestone in terms of balls after Tanmay Agarwal (119 balls) and Ravi Shastri (123 balls). He was eventually out on a personal score of 222 runs off 156 balls with the help of 29 fours and 5 sixes.
