India A team is touring Sri Lanka for a triangular series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A teams. India’s second-string national cricket team is playing against Sri Lanka A team today at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Dambulla. Tilak Verma is leading the team, while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named as his deputy for the series.
During the first game, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a brilliant century off 112 balls and helped the Men in Blue post a good score on a difficult wicket. He was out on the score of 101 runs in 114 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes in his brilliant innings.

Ruturaj Gaikwad equaled the records of Gambhir and Dravid
After scoring the century, Ruturaj Gaikwad equaled the record of former India captain and current head coach of the Indian team Gautam Gambhir in terms of scoring most centuries in List A games for the national team. Ruturaj, along with Gambhir and Rahul Dravid, now has 21 centuries in List A matches, with the CSK captain having a chance to surpass the two former India captains.

Therefore, Gaikwad will have a chance to leave behind the records of Dhawan and Ganguly.
Ruturaj Gaikwad overtook Virat Kohli
Ruturaj, who has been a sensational player in the 50-over format of the game, does not get a place in the senior team due to competition, and Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are locked in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. However, in the series against South Africa, he scored a brilliant century while batting at number 4 with Kohli.

Currently, Gaikwad has the highest average in terms of playing minimum 50 innings in List A games. His average is 59.32 in which he has scored 5161* runs, which is better than Virat Kohli who has averaged 57.91 and has scored 16447 runs, as well as former Australia batsman Michael Bevan who has scored 15103 runs at 57.86.
India A made a good score
Given the form Ruturaj has shown in List A games, he should be considered as a backup for the 50-over format, as he can bat at No. 3 and No. 4 as well. So he should be a contender for the upcoming ODI series and also against South Africa if India needs a solid middle-order batsman.
Talking about the game, Tilak Verma won the toss and decided to bat first. Vabhaav Suryavanshi did not have a good start and he was out on 14 runs. But Tilak and Gaikwad stitched a 150-run partnership, with Tilak making 60, helping India post a total of 277/6 at the end of 50 overs.
