Salman Ali Aga, the captain of the losing team on the night of 15th February, wrote to Colombo’s R. Blamed the spinners for the humiliating 61-run defeat against arch-rivals India at the Premadasa Stadium.
Before the India vs Pakistan match, the spinner of the Pakistan cricket team is being considered as their trump card. Actually, Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav exposed Pakistan’s bowling attack. Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey and Rinku Singh also added important runs in their brief innings.
Salman Ali Aga blames spinners
Salman Ali Aga directly said that it was bad for the business of his spinners. He pointed out that the spinner failed to perform in several moments. The Aga repeatedly referred to hanging, which he would have failed to do.
The Pakistani captain said after the match, “Our spinners had a bad day. There was lack of performance in some parts. We have confidence in our spinners, they have performed well in the last six months.”
Against India’s 175 runs, Pakistan’s innings was reduced to just 114 runs in 18 overs. Before the match, there were many talks about controversial spinner Usman Tariq. Tariq took the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav at an economy rate of 6.00 in his 4 over spell. Another experienced spinner of Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed proved to be very expensive for the team. He spent 38 runs in 3 overs without taking a single wicket.
Batsmen also failed to convince
The bowlers, especially the spinners, might have failed to perform. But most of the Pakistani batsmen also failed to justify their skills. There is total evidence of 114.
Aga said, “We lost a lot of wickets in the powerplay with the bat. It was difficult in the first innings; the ball was also in the hold. The execution with the ball was missing. The pitch was better in the second innings compared to the first innings.”
Salman Ali Aga is confident about comeback
Wherever India vs Pakistan match takes place, a large crowd gathers to watch the rivalry live. Colombo on 15 February was also no exception. The packed house could have put additional pressure on the cricketers.
Salman Ali Aga concluded, “In these types of games, emotions are always high. It has to be dealt with. Have played many games like this. There is a game in two days’ time; have to look forward to. Need to win that game and qualify for the Super Eights. Then it’s a new tournament.”
Pakistan’s next match will be against Namibia on February 18 at 3.00 pm IST at SSC Cricket Ground, Colombo.
