Whenever Suryavanshi comes out to bat, he creates excitement. The young opening batsman’s fearless approach and aggressive stroke play has made him one of the most talked-about talents in Indian cricket.
Suryavanshi Hammers 94 runs out of 29, missed the century by six runs
Vaibhav Suryavanshi destroyed the bowling attack of Sri Lanka A. He started aggressively and scored 26 runs on the ball of Mohammad Shiraz in the third over of the match. The left-handed batsman scored 94 runs in just 29 balls at an excellent strike rate of 324.14 and hit 10 fours and eight sixes.
During his explosive innings, Vaibhav registered the fastest half-century in List A cricket historyReached the milestone in just 11 balls. She broke the previous world record held by Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne, who scored a half-century in 12 balls in a domestic match during the 2005–06 season.
Vaibhav also broke the Indian List A record previously held by Sarfaraz Khan, who scored a half-century in 15 balls for Mumbai against Punjab in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He narrowly missed breaking the record for the fastest List A century, which is held by Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, who reached the milestone in just 29 balls. Ultimately, in the ninth over, Vaibhav was out after scoring 94 runs on 29 balls after delivering Sahan Arachige’s ball straight to Vijaykant Vyaskant.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi silences critics with his resounding win in Tri-Nation A final
Vaibhav Suryavanshi entered the final under pressure after a modest score at the start of the tournament and a heated clash with Sri Lanka A players. Before the final in Dambulla, Vaibhav had scored 14, 44, 21 and 38 runs in the tournament.
The national selectors have already expressed confidence in Vaibhav’s talent. At the age of 15 years and 71 days, he became the youngest player selected for the India men’s team, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record.
He recently earned his first T20I call-up for the tours of Ireland and England as well as the 2026 Asian Games. After the tri-series final, Vaibhav and captain Tilak Verma will travel to Ireland for a T20I series before heading to England for five T20Is.
