Starc last played for the Sydney Sixers in 2014, but his ties to the club run deep. Starc’s return came soon after his retirement from T20 Internationals, freeing him up from his schedule for domestic competitions as well as allowing him to focus on Test cricket. The move opens up a long-awaited opportunity for the left-arm fast bowler to rejoin the BBL, a league he has only played in for a short period of time despite his global T20 stardom.
Starc is set to join the Sixers after the Ashes series, which ends on January 8, 2026, with his participation dependent on fitness. Under the BBL supplementary player policy, he is expected to play in the latter stages of the season, including the playoffs, where his experience could prove decisive.
