Former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey shared an interesting information about the relationship of legendary cricketer MS Dhoni with the players of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Hussey said Dhoni keeps his room open all the time during the IPL and some even enjoy smoking shisha or flavored tobacco during outings.

Irfan Pathan and Manoj Tiwari had talked about similar habits in the environment of the Indian team. The debate resurfaced after an old interview of Irfan Pathan went viral, where he indirectly mentioned teammates conducting “hookah” sessions. Fans immediately linked it to Dhoni, despite Pathan not taking any name.

Speaking on The Overlap Cricket, Hussey said, “Dhoni is the most amazing person, his room is open 24 hours. So, anyone can go in there and sit. He’s got his own lounge room, players just sit, they start talking about cricket, some of them like ‘sheesha’, you know, flavored tobacco things.”

“So, it’s his way of socializing and things like that. Credit to Dhoni, he opens his room, a lot of players go up, they bring food, it’s fantastic,” he said.

I never saw him practice keeping – Michael Hussey on MS Dhoni

Michael Hussey shared that MS Dhoni rarely practices his wicketkeeping during training. Hussey said he spent most of his time in the nets working on his batting and power-hitting.

Hussey revealed, “I have been a player for 8 years in Chennai and a coach for about 8 years now. I think the only time I have seen him hold the ball is when we had to put on a new pair of gloves. I have never seen him practice keeping, but he bats for a long time. He hits thousands of balls.”

MS Dhoni is ready for the 19th IPL season as CSK’s legendary wicketkeeper

Michael Hussey played for CSK for many years and now works as their batting coach. Hussey is considered one of the best players in the history of CSK. He played for the team from 2008 to 2013 and later made a comeback in 2015.

Dhoni has been the main captain of CSK since the start of IPL. Under his guidance the team has won five titles and he has always created a calm and supportive environment where players feel safe and supported.

Dhoni is still one of the best wicketkeepers in IPL. His catching, throwing, and quick reactions continue to stand out, as was seen in the 2025 season. CSK has retained Dhoni for IPL 2026, which will be his 19th season in the league. The team has also confirmed that Ruturaj Gaikwad will remain the captain next year also.
