Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has launched a direct attack on Pakistan as he threatened to boycott the India vs Pakistan ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match in Colombo, Sri Lanka on February 15. In his remarks, Singh described Pakistan as ‘arrogant’.
On Sunday, the Pakistan government informed through its official social media profile that it has decided not to register a case against India on February 15. After this announcement, Pakistan is facing the anger of a large section of cricket fans. Harbhajan Singh said that Pakistan’s decision to boycott the India match shows their lack of concern for the cricket fans of his country.
Pakistan is supporting Bangladesh
After the exit of Bangladesh cricket team, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. From a cricketing point of view, Pakistan was not involved in the Bangladesh-ICC dispute, but they wanted to show solidarity towards Bangladesh, so they threatened to boycott. Pakistan’s views regarding cricket are more than political.
The interesting fact is that the announcement made on Sunday was made by the Pakistan government and not by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). PCB has not yet formally informed the International Cricket Council about its decision. Harbhajan Singh challenged Naqvi to boycott India’s matches in T20 World Cup 2026.
This is just to show arrogance: Harbhajan Singh
“What benefit are you going to get from this?” Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has raised this question in this video of YouTube channel.
“This is just to show arrogance. If you really think you can do something like this, then be adamant. Let’s see if you really have the guts. This is completely a drama created to mislead people into thinking that they are standing with Bangladesh. There is no problem with it, but what have you thought about the people in your own country who want an India-Pakistan match?” Harbhajan further said.
Singh referred to the fact that when Pakistan faced India for the Asia Cup 2025 on several occasions, political relations between the two countries were at an all-time low. But still, Pakistan went to play with India only for revenue, Singh shared his views.
Harbhajan Singh also brought up Asia Cup 2025 in the conversation.
He also highlighted that the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match on February 15 is scheduled to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is a neutral venue. The location was selected keeping in mind the demand of Pakistan. Now they are threatening to boycott the game.
“The match was to be played at a neutral venue, and there was no dispute with you. You played the Asia Cup despite there being a war recently. There was drama over the trophy, but the matches took place because you were not ready to leave that venue. If you are so patriotic, where was your patriotism? So, you had no feelings for your country, but now you want to stand with some other country.” Harbhajan Singh said.
