Afghanistan squads announced for the White-Ball series against Bangladesh; Gulbadin naib snowed

On Saturday, September 20, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken some major calls while selecting the squads and left some big names for the Bangladesh series.

Fazalhaq Farooqi came out of Afghanistan squads

Afghanistan will close the horns with Bangladesh in the three -match T20I series and three -match ODI series in October. The T20I matches will be played on 2 October, 3 and 5 in Sharjah.

The ODIs between the two teams will be hosted by Abu Dhabi on 8 October, 11 and 14.

Meanwhile, the ACB Selection Committee has taken a major decision and left both T20I and ODI squads from both star left-arm fast bowler Fazlak Farooqui. Along with Farooqui, the selectors have taken away all -rounders Gulbadin Naib and Karim Janaat from both squads.

Batter Vafiullah Tarakhil and Pesar Mohammad Salim Safi made it in the T20I squad, while fast bowlers Bashir Ahmed and Abdullah Ahmedzai are named in both squads.

Talking about spinners, Am Ghazanfar is designated in the main ODI squad, but in T20Is themselves have been found in reserves. His inclusion directly affects Mujib ur Rehman, as he has been taken away from one day.

In addition, Bilal Sami and Faridoon Dawoodzai are placed as a store in Odis, while Rahmat Shah has joined the M Gazanfer in the T20I stand-bye list.

Afghanatan will bounce back firmly and will be proud of our nation – Naseeb Khan

In an official statement released by the team, Mr. Naseeb Khan, CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board, said that he is looking at the series against Bangladesh as a perfect opportunity for the preparation of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

He accepted the bad performance of the side in the Asia Cup 2025, where he faced a group exiting the stage, and the Afghans were expected to bounce back.

He said, “After six months of break from international cricket after the ICC Champions Trophy, we are now entering a packed season with several T20I games. It provides the team an incredible opportunity to prepare for the ICC men’s T20 World Cup next year,” he said.

“Performance in the Asia Cup 2025 was not expected, but the ups and downs are part of the game. As usual, we hope that Afganatan will bounce back firmly and take our nation proud of the upcoming events.”
